HAARP VS. THE HAARP MACHINE: WHO IS BETTER???

0

HAARP

I feel like I wrote a post just like this one back in 2010 or so, but it feels necessary to do so again now that both haarp and The HAARP Machine are releasing albums around the same time. It’s not just in the capitalization: these two bands could not be more different even if their names both reference the High Frequency Active Aural Research Program. So:

haarp: Dirty, nasty, doomy, New Orleans sludge signed to Phil Anselmo’s Housecore Records label. These guys are so tonally gnarly they named their first album The Filth fer chrissakes (Sammy O’Hagar gave it the MS “four out of five horns” seal of approval). If you like your metal slow, raw and messy, this is the band for you. Fire up those bongs and get to listenin’; new album Husks came out yesterday, can be streamed in full at Invisible Oranges, and can be ordered here.

The HAARP machine: Sumeriancore band signed to (duh) Sumerian Records. I’m digging new song “Pleiadian Keys” (below) moreso than I can remember digging any new Sumerian signing in quite some time. It’s got a little Protest the Hero, a little Faceless, and even a little Intronaut. Disclosure will be released on October 16 and can be pre-ordered here.

We ask you, o vaunted MetalSucks reader: who is better, haarp or The HAARP Machine???
