Viral Video of the Day: “Every Metalcore Vocalist”

Jarrod Alonge, welcome to the internet spotlight! Mr. Alonge made the very funny video below, “Every Metalcore Vocalist,” in which he… well… guess, stupid.

Although Alonge’s general aesthetic and tone of silly stage voice definitely belongs to the ‘core genre, I would argue that a lot of the stage banter in the clip (including all the mixed messges) are the kind of bullshit that pretty much every metal vocalist says. (The only clichéd phrase I don’t think I heard is, “In case you don’t know, we are [Name of Band] from [Name of Band’s Hometown].”) Still, his performance is goddamn brilliant. The bit where he goes, “This is our last –” then hesitates, looks off to side while someone talks to him, and then turns back and amends his statement to, “This is our second to last song!”? A+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ WDBWA xinfintyinfintyinfinty.
