1002617_619179348103019_123353324_nBeing neither a huge nor tiny Nightwish fan, I do not closely follow the career of their former vocalist, Tarja Turunen, respected though I understand she is. That being the case, I was unaware that Living Colour bassist Doug Wimbish has played on a couple of her solo albums and even toured with her… although given how in-demand Wimbish has been for, oh, the past twenty or thirty years, I’m never surprised when I hear he’s played with someone. He’s the Josh Freese of bass.

ANYWAY, presumably as a result of this relationship, Ms. Turunen recently joined Living Colour on stage in Buenos Aires to perform a cover of Cream’s “Sunshine of Your Love.” I’m honestly not digging her contribution to the song, which seems all wrong… but I love Living Colour so yeah here’s some cell phone video of the performance:

In case ya didn’t know, Living Colour originally did this cover for the soundtrack to the 1994 James Cameron/Ahnuld flick True Lies. It sounds much cooler and like a million times heavier without Tarja’s operatics:
