Saturday To Fall Down
Sometimes I can really relate to Michael Douglas’ character in the major motion picture from the wonderful year of 1993 entitled Falling Down. For those of you unaware of this cinematic gem, feel free to familiarize yourselves with the trailer (a few choice scenes below as well):
Basically Douglas has just had enough with everyone’s bullshit and decides to take matters into his own hands….using a ton of guns and some other nifty artillery. Push a man over the edge and you never know what will happen; clearly people will justify their actions to themselves in all sorts of ways. As Douglas famously asks near the end of the movie: “I’m the bad guy?”
Oh man, do I know exactly what you mean, buddy! What a treat it would be to roll around blasting inane motherfuckers to hell and beyond; too bad for laws, morality, and human decency :(
And so this Fall I hope you will be down to fight for what you believe — not with guns per se, but rather using more productive weapons such as your creativity and compassion. Take for example our German overlords in the amazing band Downfall Of Gaia (well 3/4ths German and 1 Upstate New Yorker — that’s a hell of a commute for rehearsal!)….these guys choose not to brandish firearms and yet they send a powerful message nonetheless through some truly fantastic heavy music.
Permit me to demonstrate via a new DoG song from the band’s forthcoming album Aeon Unveils The Thrones Of Decay (coming out 11/7 in Europe and 11/11 in the rest of the world):
Are you down to celebrate the Fall???
