Anyone Interested in a Deftones Beer? Anyone?
These days, it seems like every metal band has a beer, even if they shouldn’t. While it makes sense for some bands to license beer, it feels out of sorts for others. Metallica, Motörhead, and Iron Maiden? Hell yes. Cannibal Corpse and Behemoth? Huh, okay. Entombed and Megadeth? Hrm, I dunno, but whatever, not that bad.
But man, today Deftones announced they’re releasing a beer. Like, White Pony Deftones. And if you ask me, that’s where you wonder who thought that would be a good marketing move.
The beer is a collaboration with Belching Beaver Brewing called Phantom Bride IPA, named after a song from the band’s recent album Gore. The beer contains Mosaic, Amarillo, Simcoe, and Citra hops, all hand-picked by Chino Moreno himself, so if you ever wanted your beer to taste of Chino’s fingernails, you’re in luck.
It’s already shipped off the West Coast, and will be available at a special launch party at Slidebar in Fullerton on October 5th. So if you’re super excited about Deftones beer, you have your chance to try Phantom Bride then. I’ll stick to Becks, thanks.
