Crypt Sermon Drop Haunting New Track “Christ is Dead”

0

Didja all enjoy “Solomon,” the debut single from Philadelphia doom / trad metal crew Crypt Sermon’s forthcoming album, The Ruins of Fading Light? I sure hope so, because a) your taste would be extremely questionable otherwise, b) I’m not sure we can continue being friends if you didn’t, and c) the band just released another new track, “Chris is Dead,” and this one is just as great.

“Christ is Dead” offers all the doomy and classic metal goodness for which the band has become known, with a galloping, almost Maiden-esque riff (but more evil!) and haunting vocals that at times feature a séance-like choral backing. But the real standout on this particular track is the guitar solo, an absolute SCORCHER that will rip through every fabric of your being with the ferocity of starving tiger. It’s rare that solos this shreddy make their way into doom, but this is Crypt Sermon we’re talking about… they ain’t afraid to break down those walls.

The Ruins of Fading Light comes out September 13 on Dark Descent; pre-order here.
