Watch: Nicko McBrain Performs with an Iron Maiden Cover Band

0

Update, 10:44pm EDT: Richie Faulkner did in fact perform, too, with the Judas Priest tribute band Sad Wings. Footage here.

Original Post:

Iron Maiden drummer Nicko McBrain has a thing for jamming with fans. Back in 2015 he made a ten-year-old’s day month life by inviting him up on stage to sing “Flight of Icarus” with McBrain’s other band, the McBrainiacs. And last month he pulled a similar stunt in Nashville, joining a Maiden tribute band, Iron Tribe, to play drums on “Run to the Hills” and “Flight of Icarus.”

The gig took place at the Hard Rock Cafe on August 18, a day before Maiden’s show at the Bridgestone Arena. Bassist Steve Harris, guitarist Adrian Smith and Judas Priest guitarist Richie Faulkner were also in attendance although they didn’t perform.

How did this epic collaboration come to pass? (In other words: was it a planned cameo or an unexpected drop-in?) We aren’t sure, but we’re positive it made these dudes’ lives, too, regardless of age. Watch footage below.
