Rings of Saturn’s Lucas Mann Responds to Stage Miming Accusations

Update, 3:59pm EST, December 7: Dines has now posted his own response to Mann’s video. You can read about that and watch it here.

Original Post:

Harsh criticism has long dogged Rings of Saturn leader Lucas Mann, who over the years has come under fire for allegedly recording studio parts in half time then speeding them up, miming guitar parts in videos, doing the same on stage and stealing riffs from other musicians. The guitarist has now published a 42-minute video on YouTube to attempt to put some of those issues to rest.

The video is mostly a response to the accusations, in particular by guitarist/YouTuber Jared Dines, that Mann mimes guitar parts live. He spends some time explaining his live setup, plays those parts on camera, provides raw DI tracks that the band does pipe through the PA live (not Mann’s parts) and even brings in their front-of-house engineer for support.

The video does not address the accusations that arose earlier this year from his former collaborators in the band We Are the End who alleged, quite convincingly, that Mann stole several song ideas for Rings of Saturn’s most recent album.

Have a watch below.
