Decibel Magazine Tour Featuring Mayhem and Abbath: Seatte, San Francisco Dates Cancelled Due to Coronavirus

0

The ninth annual Decibel Magazine Tour, which features Mayhem, Abbath, Gatecreeper, and Idle Hands, is the latest trek to suffer due to the coronavirus: a March 17 date in Seattle, WA and a March 20 date San Francisco, CA have both been called off. The cancellations are the result of the two cities’ respective bans on substantial gatherings — more than 250 people in Seattle, and more than 1,000 people in San Francisco — which are intended to curb the spread of the virus.

Mayhem are already touring without their drummer,  Hellhammer (Jan Axel Blomberg), reportedly due to a shoulder injury. Tony Laureano (Dimmu Borgir, Nile, etc.) is filling in for these shows.

This is just the latest in a string of cancellations and postponements caused by the COVID-19 virus. Tours affected thus far in the U.S., Europe, and Asia include treks headlined by Machine Head, Fleshgod Apocalypse,  SlipknotLacuna Coil and Trivium.

Worldometer reports that there have been 129,604 confirmed cases of coronavirus infection worldwide, with 4,749 deaths and 68,670 recovered. The site also says that there are currently 56,185 active cases, with roughly 10% listed as “serious or critical.”
