Multiple Women Accuse Former Black Veil Brides Bassist of Sexual Misconduct and Abuse; Band Responds
Former Black Veil Brides bassist Ashley Purdy has been accused by multiple women of sexual misconduct. These include allegations of sex with underage girls, physical, verbal, and psychological abuse, providing minors with drugs and alcohol, and rape.
Purdy subsequently responded via two videos in which he called the accusations “false” and provided witness testimony by his roommate and another friend:
Pearl, in turn, released a new statement of her own arguing that the witnesses were not credible:
Pearl later added:
Subsequently, another victim, this one identified only as duality, shared her own account of being abused by Purdy:
Hi, all. This is a thread about my experience with #AshleyPurdy as a 17 year old. Please read my statement in its entirety, with an open mind and without bias. There are many parts of the story, so bare with me.
After that argument, we never had contact again, and I’m glad we didn’t. I know there will be plenty of people ready to attack me, call me a liar, and blame me for what happened. But at the end of the day there is no excuse for what happened. Period.
What happened really sucked, and I know I am telling the truth. And in the end, that is what matters. Ashley, I have no respect for you. You use your status and platform to act totally irresponsibly and grossly. The girls you disrespect are someone’s daughter, cousin, sister.
Im not afraid of you. I’m not intimidated by you anymore. And the fact that you blocked me. What are you so afraid of? Afraid that I can speak up for myself? Afraid that I don’t give a shit how many fans or friends you have that will “defend” you? Send them all. I don’t care.
And as for the “Purdy Posse” accounts who have been harassing Pearl and other girls who have come forward, shame on you!! Especially the fact that you are women attacking other women in such a gross and ignorant way. Try that shit with me and you’ll get shut down. Fast.
If Ashley would like to drop yet another bullshit video claiming he’s done nothing wrong, he’s free to do so. He’s free to say anything he pleases. But like I said, I know the truth. I have the reciepts. And I don’t care what defense he thinks he has.
I don’t want an apology from you. I don’t want anything to do with you. And if you do decide to open your mouth to speak on this situation, let it either be to admit you are in the wrong or otherwise don’t say anything. I won’t want to hear it.
Thank you to everyone who read this far and for those who have been supportive during the time, most of all @DannyFinnMusic and @babygunk . And @Pearl_Carolina_ I will always support you and believe you.
Duality then shared video of herself getting off of Black Veil Bride’s tour bus:
People asking to see the video. Here it is. Sorry I completely forgot to post this earlier. pic.twitter.com/YY18ZEZ35m— duality (@throwupbarbie) June 24, 2020
More victims have since begun to come forward using the hashtag #AshleyPurdy.
Meanwhile, Black Veil Brides have released the following statement on the matter (via The PRP):
“We have been informed of the allegations against a former member of our band we want to make it clear that we do not condone the type of abhorrent behavior that’s been described. We are committed to creating a safe community for our fans and advancing a culture in which abuse of any kind is not tolerated.
