In October, former W.A.S.P. guitarist Chris Holmes released the first-ever GoFundMe campaign on Indiegogo in order to fund his new album, which is arguably the single best reason to remain alive for 2021.

Unfortunately, that campaign ain’t going so hot: while its target goal has mysteriously increased by $1,049, but has raised a mere $6,475 — barely more than twice the amount donated when we first reported on this story nearly two months ago. At the rate he’s going, it’ll be about a year before he hits his goal.

There is some good news, though: somehow, despite his financial woes, Holmes has managed to finance a new music video for his song “The Devil Make Me Do It,” from an EP he released earlier this year called Under the Influence. Why the song is called “The Devil Make Me Do It” and not “The Devil Makes Me Do It” or “The Devil Made Me Do It,” I could not tell you, especially since Holmes is pretty clearly singing “The devil made me do it” during the chorus. Maybe Holmes wrote it while he under the influence (rimshot!).

Bizarre choice of title aside, the video is typical Holmes genius, which is to say, it’s hard to believe it was made by adults and not kindergartners. Metal Injection points out that the track seems to endorse driving drunk; what they don’t point out is that in 2014, Blabbermouth reported that the guitarist “became sober nearly 20 years ago after being ordered by the court to attend a DUI school following several alcohol-related arrests.” In other words: he really should know better.
