“Thunder Force”: New Song Features Members of Slipknot, Anthrax, Halestorm, and More

Last month, we learned that Scott Ian (Anthrax) and his recent Mr. Bungle bandmate, Dave Lombardo (also ex-Slayer and a billion other things), would be helping out with Fil Eisler’s score for the Netflix superhero comedy Thunder Force.

With the release of that flick barely more than a week away, the trio have now released a song from the soundtrack, also called “Thunder Force.” And in case having the two of them on the track ain’t enough to entice you, you should know it also features Corey Taylor (Slipknot, all of your most erotic dreams) and Lzzy Hale (Halestorm). Also someone named Tina Guo. I dunno who she is but she must be pretty rad to be recording with this lot.

The song is a lot of fun — I’m not sure who wrote what, but it ostensibly sounds like latter-day Anthrax as sung by Lzzy Hale and Corey Taylor. If that doesn’t sound appealing to you I’m not sure why you’ve even read this far.

As a bonus, this may be the closest we ever get to hearing the Corey Taylor-fronted Anthrax that could have been.

In fact, given the track record of Thunder Force writer/director Ben Falcone’s collaborations with his wife, Melissa McCarthy, I’m willing to be that “Thunder Force” the song will end up being better than Thunder Force the movie. If you think I’m being a dick, you never sat through Tammy or The Boss.

Listen to “Thunder Force” below. Thunder Force hits Netflix on April 9. In addition to McCarthy, it features stars Octavia Butler (The HelpMa), Jason Bateman (OzarkArrested Development), Bobby Cannavale (Ant-ManWin Win), Melissa Leo (The FighterPrisoners), and Pom Klementieff (Mantis from Guardians of the Galaxy). Watch the trailer at the bottom of this post.
