Axl Rose’s Cat Died
Dexter “Dexy” Maranello Rose, the cat belonging to Guns N’ Roses singer Axl Rose, has died. He was 14-years-old, which is about 72 in cat years.
Rose himself made the announcement on Twitter:
After an outpour of sympathy from fans, Rose sent out a second tweet thanking everyone for their support:
“Thank you to everyone for all the kind words n’ support w/Dexy’s passing, it means a lot. N’ thank you to all the animal lovers who shared their stories of losing a friend/family member. Good friends r hard to find n’ we’re all lucky when we find them (or they find us!)”
Guns N’ Roses previously covered AC/DC’s “Whole Lotta Rosie” during a show in Zurich, Switzerland, as a tribute to the singer’s late dog.
That pet, incidentally, is not Blue Malone, the dog in Rose’s Twitter profile pic. Blue was a gift for Rose’s longtime manager/assistant/surrogate mother, Beta Lebeis.
Guns N’ Roses released two new songs, “ABSUЯD” and “Hard Skool,” this summer. Both are tracks originally written for Chinese Democracy that have since been reworked to better suit returning members Slash and Duff McKagan. It’s the first time the band has released new material with Slash and McKagan since 1991.
An EP, also called Hard Skool, is set for release next year.
