Watch: Fan Rushes Rage Against the Machine Onstage, Security Guard Sacks Tom Morello Instead

0

Keeping the members of Rage Against the Machine in one piece on their long-awaited reunion tour is turning out to be a harder task than anyone thought initially.

In a video filmed by Youtube user Cody Gittins at the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, a rogue fan can be seen jumping on stage during Rage Against the Machine’s performance of their mega-hit, “Killing in the Name.” A security guard responds immediately but guitarist Tom Morello is standing directly in the stage-jumper’s path and the security guard tackles Morello along with the fan.

The rest of Rage Against the Machine continue playing the song for about 10 seconds before vocalist Zack de la Rocha orders everyone to “hold up, hold up, hold up.”

Fortunately for everyone involved, Morello jumped up uninjured. His guitar also took no damage. Metal Hammer reports that Morello asked the crowd “What just happened?” while de la Rocha said: “Do not try that shit. I’m sorry. We’re cool. We love y’all, but don’t do that.”

Earlier in the tour, de la Rocha injured his leg while performing “Bullet in the Head.” It’s still unclear what injury was sustained, but he’s been sitting down to perform since.

Here’s hoping that the rest of the tour (dates below) has a little less band endangerment.
