Lars Ulrich’s Sons’ Band, Taipei Houston, Are Going on Tour with The Melvins

The kids of rock stars may learn their own instruments and sincerely be talented, but it’s starting to feel a little bit like light nepotism at this point between Vended, Suspect208, and other bands featuring rockstar spawn. I mean, how else does Taipei Houston, which features Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich‘s sons Myles and Layne, get to join the Melvins on part of their “Five-Legged Tour?”

Sure, they’re only going to be joining the hard-to-define Melvins for all six California shows, but that’s already a hell of a stretch of dates to be invited to join. Melvins guitarist and vocalist Buzz Osbourne said he was excited to see Taipei Houston hit the stage.

“We’re very excited to have Taipei Houston added to the California portion of our upcoming Five Legged Tour. I think they’re a great band and I’m looking forward to watching them play. Everyone please show up early!”

Fresh off their 28-date Electric Roach tour that ran through most of the summer, the Melvins are heading back on a seven week trek with 43 shows pockmarking the U.S.

Aside from Taipei Houston’s short supporting role on the tour, the Melvins will also be joined by We Are The Asteroid on every date.
