The Troops of Doom Announce New Album for 2024

Brazilian supergroup The Troops of Doom, led by former Sepultura guitarist Jairo “Tormentor” Guedz, are going to hit us with their second album in the new year.

The band just finished touring South America in support of their debut album Antichrist Reborn, released last year, and next up they’re going to be focusing on coming up with their follow-up, which they promise will channel old school death goodness.

The album will be out via Alma Mater Records, the Portuguese label co-owned by Fernando Ribeiro of Moonspell, whenever it is ready. They’re planning on the first half of 2024.

“Fernando and Pedro from Alma Mater Records are not sparing any effort and truly believe in our potential. They are incredible people, very professional, and support us in all decisions, working in the right way to make everything happen smoothly. We are happy to have renewed the contract with them.” says drummer Alexandre Oliveira in a full album report, which you can check out below.

This time around, Guedz said the band are taking even more care with their production, mixing, and mastering, trying to bring forth the golden era of death metal on this record, complete with a classic aesthetic.

“We are giving birth to material that makes us very proud! The work is intense, and we are focused on every detail, so that the experience this album conveys is unforgettable, especially for fans of old-school metal, fans of the first Sepultura albums in which I participated, as well as other influences of the time, which are part of The Troops’ sound, like Slayer, Celtic Frost, Kreator … But, of course, all of this with our own special touch.”

We also know the band will head back on the road in 2024, as they’ve already been confirmed to play Summer Breeze Open Air Brasil. We can probably expect more festival and show announcements from the band in the coming months.
