SHIT THAT COMES OUT TODAY: FEBRUARY 14, 2012
Winter is usually fairly slow for releases, but it’s not even March and a bunch of cool stuff has already dropped. This week, we update you and your wallet on the second chapter of Earth’s double album, new jams from Orange Goblin, and excellent records from Pilgrim, Goatwhore, and Iron Mask.

This week brings less than a ton of new metal, but it does mark the unveiling of a tasty upgrade to MetalSucks’ beloved Shit That Comes Out Today column. The new format makes it easy to preview tracks and peep cover art, but that’s not all: In the new STCOT, we boldly list a few similar projects (y’know, for context) and recklessly recommend which new records might deserve priority in your new record-buying plans (in case your budget doesn’t accomodate all the hot new shit). A METALSUCKS EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW: KRIS NORRIS ON A CANCEROUS AFFAIR, CORY SMOOT, THE KRIS NORRIS PROJEKT, AND MORE
First, a little backstory. Back in 2006, Darkest Hour was making the promotional rounds for their latest disc, Undoing Ruin. I was working for my shitty college paper, doing a show preview for DH’s show in Omaha, Nebraska and emailed Kris requesting an interview. He called me five minutes after I sent the email. That’s how cool of a guy he is.
Besides being one hell of a nice dude, Kris is an extremely talented musician, and his new project, A Cancerous Affair, has completed their lineup and is starting to produce what will most definitely be some killer tunes. Check out my interview with Kris below.

WASTEOID’S “JEFFMETAL” SAYERS (1974-2011)
On Sunday, September 11, 2011, Jeff “Jeffmetal” Sayers, bassist of Nebraska’s long-running “no coast powerviolence” band Wasteoid, passed away in Lincoln.
I asked Metalsucks to write this piece not so much as a eulogy, even though Jeff was a friend of mine and will be dearly missed. It’s not really national music news, either, as only a fraction of you even know who this band is.
Instead, my memorial is to share Wasteoid — and Jeff’s — other work with the uninformed.
