Shit That Comes Out Today

Sh*t That Comes Out Today: May 27, 2016

Lacuna Coil - Delirium

Hello MetalSucks reader! Welcome to Shit That Comes Out Today, your Satanic bible of this week’s heavy new releases. We list ‘em, we spotlight ‘em, we link you to their preview jams and full streams — and we usually stick ‘em in a fancy Spotify playlist too (below) — all for your jammage! Now crank this shit up.

Panacea (Osmose)
On a playlist with: Kvelertak, Baroness, Torche
Listen “Ebony Grand Master” (here)

Kvelertak makes mistakes — who doesn’t? — so thankfully there’s Plan B for blackened metal/rock ‘n’ roll: Sektemtum, which sounds kind of like septum. Sturdy is the musical front: lighters-in-the-air jams, with trve metal too. Supposedly it’s the rawness: an unsanitized gash with all the rough specks of pavement and gravel ground in. When there’s grit, then the music = sandpaper instead of lame shit like parchment paper or heaven forbid one-ply toilet paper.

Pink MassPink Mass
Slvt Kvlt (HPGD)
On a playlist with: Burn The Priest, Gridlink, Plebeain Grandstand
Listen Slvt Kvlt full stream (here)

Your favorite song on this album is probably “Symbol Of 8 Dicks,” which actually is a decent jam. Truly all of Slvt Kvlt is a decent jam, i.e. the album melds as a singularly cohesive jam. You begin with the arm and fist cocking back, and you end writhing on a concrete floor grabbing frantically for your no-no area which has been savagely punched to a… pink mass.

Blood Of The Fall (Via Nocturna)
On a playlist with: Mastodon, Vulture Industries, The Sword
Listen Blood Of The Fall full stream (here)

Bedowyn’s only sin is uniformity: Blood Of The Fall is salad of just lettuce. Tough remembering which song is which. But the ruse, the experience, the sensuality! Those elements are on point. Top notch. This goes to show: maybe you don’t have 400 great ideas or even 400 bad ideas, but you may have a few proven (reliable) ideas. What’s left is that you gotta have proper execution!

Breach | Submerge (Apes Who Looked Up)
On a playlist with: a beefed-up The Ocean, Cult Of Luna, Yob (kinda)
Listen Breach | Submerge full stream (here)

Here’s some interestingly crazy shit. Cetacean are all over the place: jazzy tidbits, blastbeats, progressive clean-sung breaks, doom setups, plus the fucker is about 35 minutes spread over just three tracks. Nonetheless | notwithstanding | nevertheless, Breach | Submerge is chock full of incredible moments. Boredom shall evade you in the presence of this album, and perhaps just as well you’ll be invaded by powerful and sexual energy.

gutter instinctGutter Instinct
Age Of The Fanatics (Prosthetic)
On a playlist with: Cattle Decapitation, Pig Destroyer, Cryptopsy
Listen Age Of The Fanatics full stream (here)

Gutter Instinct basically mows down the entire arena of death metal bands with a nuclear-powered minigun (tremolo picking), laughing maniacally (i.e. gurgling and growling) and also doing sick shit like eating bugs (puts the “gutter” into the instinct). That is to say: Age Of The Fanatics is death metal incarnate. Death metal right out of the mother. Death metal ultimate, death metal par fucking excellence. Death metal so stuffed with death that any reasonable death-head would chose this album as their funeral procession music.

On a playlist with: Panopticon, Earth And Pillars, Hope Drone
Listen Yūgen full stream (here)

Zero way in heck Yūgen will avoid high rankings on 2016’s best-of lists. Ashbringer’s second-latest Vacant (excellent, obviously) really promised Yūgen‘s coming: There is lineage in this music, and that’s what makes the difference. This is art, molded from thin air with discerningly patient hands practicing nothing less than the absolute mastery of a craft. With so goddamn much to appreciate about this album, you better as fuck stop reading and start listening!
