Ozzy Osbourne Says He’s “Hoping” to Start Work on Another Album “Next Month”

“[T]he overall vibe feels very melancholy. Lots of lyrics about death and hindsight. It’s hard to know if Ozzy expects this to be his last album, but it sure feels like it.”

The above quote comes from Jeff Treppel’s MetalSucks review of Ozzy Osbourne’s new album, Ordinary Man, and it’s a sentiment I’m sure many of us share. It’s no secret that Ozzy’s health ain’t great these days, and he’s postponed multiple tours in the past year… and those tours — dubbed “No More Tours 2” — were meant to be his farewell shows to begin with. And if he’s not going to tour anymore, there’s kinda no reason to keep making albums, right? So there is very much this vibe out there that Ordinary Man is Ozzy’s swan song.

But that’s not the case, according to Ozzy! In a new iHeart Radio interview, the Ozzman makes the following revelation:

“I’m hoping that next month I’ll go and do another album with Andrew [Watt, ‘Ordinary Man‘ producer]. I might as well, while I’m not doing gigs.”

Of course, “hoping” is not “100% sure.” So it’s possible that an Ordinary Man follow-up never actually materializes. Still, this will probably please fans who see Ordinary Man as a “return to form” (or fans who think Ozzy never faltered anyway and loved albums like Down to Earth, Black Rain, and Scream).

The real question is, will Ozzy get Zakk Wylde involved this time around? The singer recently said that his longtime guitarist wasn’t involved in the creation of Ordinary Man because it was written and recorded so speedily that “we didn’t know we were making an album.” That’s obviously not the case this time out, when he’s announcing his intention to record new music a month in advance. So there’s no reason not to bring Zakk in this time… right?
