Mushroomhead have released “The Hair I See,” the second single (after “Seen It All”) from their new album, A Wonderful Life.

Despite the unusual lyrical focus on follicular matters, it’s probably one of the least-worst Mushroomhead songs I’ve ever heard! It’s definitely sulky, but it’s not really nu-metal, and a good amount of the vocals are handled by Jackie LaPonza (Unsaid Fate), instead of screamer/rapper J Mann or clean vocalist Steve Rauckhorst. In fact, Mann’s parts are by far the worst element of the track; otherwise it basically sounds like a Lacuna Coil song if someone slipped Cristina Scabbia a Xannie right before she started recording. The band should do more of this and less of the other drek they make.

Listen to “The Hair I See” below. A Wonderful Life comes out June 19 on Napalm Records. Pre-orders are here.
