Exclusive Track Premiere: Come to Grief Are Slaves to the Groove on “Devastation of Souls”

0

If you’re part of the contemporary extreme metal scene, you might know of Come to Grief without knowing them that well. The band have done solid work toiling in the underground, touring the world and making a name for themselves. But with their upcoming album When The World Dies, the New England four-piece are primed to become a household name in every roach-motel home across this great nation. The Kurt Ballou-produced record is a punishing explosion of sludgy, groovy death metal that’ll have heads around the world banging in hypnotized approval.

The new single from the record, “Devastation of Souls,” is as punishing a song as one can hear on an average Wednesday. Pendulous in its riffs and driving in its momentum, the track will have fans of everyone from Neurosis to Burning Witch salivating over it. That said, vocalist Jonathan Hebert’s shrieks will scare off casual listeners and tourists, leaving only the sick and hardened to enjoy this rager.

Says guitarist and backing vocalist Terry Savastano:

“‘Devastation of Souls’ is another scalding ode to the working man — the fool — namely me. Trying relentlessly day in and day out not to jump into fast moving traffic after pummeling the brain, heart and soul working a thankless and often miserable job. Not concentrating or even caring about the things you love and covet because you’re too broken and morally destroyed from a much-too-hard day’s work.”
