You MUST be F**king Joking: Ex-Lostprophets Vocalist and Convicted Sex Offender Ian Watkins To Appeal Against the Length of His Prison Sentence

  • Axl Rosenberg

Last month, Lostprophets vocalist Ian Watkins was sentenced to thirty-five years in prison (twenty-nine years plus six additional years “on licence”) after pleading guilty to a wide of array unbelievably-nightmarish child sex crimes. That’s obviously a very harsh punishment, but considering the nature of Watkins’ crimes, I think it’s fair to say that the guy should just be grateful that he wasn’t sentenced to be raked over hot coals every hour on the hour for the rest of his life.

But there are idiots who disagree with me… and, unsurprisingly, one of them is Watkins himself: the BBC reports that the singer “is seeking leave to appeal against the length of his jail term.” Meaning, he thinks he should have to spend less time in jail.

Keep in mind this dude raped an eleven-month-old… and that he told a friend the whole thing was “megalolz” and that “I don’t know what everyone is getting so freaked out about.” And that AFTER he confessed. There are literally no words to describe how colossally fucked-up Watkins is. Every time I tell someone about it, they ask the same question: “WHY?!?!” And yet, he thinks three decades is more than he deserves.

I can’t imagine he’ll win his appeal, but I guess anything is possible. In the meantime, take comfort knowing that Watkins is currently confined to HM Prison Parc in Bridgend, UK — a jail that The PRP reports “has the lovely nickname of the ‘Monster Mansion’ due to its large number of incarcerated high risk sex offenders and murderers.” In 2004, there was a report from Her Majesty’s Chief Inspector of Prisons alleging that the inmates were being widely abused by the guards, and just this past summer, a child killer named Mark Bridger was slashed across his face with a makeshift blade. It sounds like Hell on Earth. Good.
